The Best Destinations for Corporate Retreats

The best corporate retreats are not about luxury resorts or packed schedules. They are about intentional experiences that bring teams together in meaningful ways. When done right, a retreat becomes something far more powerful than a company trip, it becomes a shared experience that strengthens relationships and creates real connection.

MAKE YOUR CORPORATE RETREAT COUNT

I have been running executive retreats with Reject Average members for years, and it is one of the most common things I am asked to organize. Over time I have hosted retreats in deep winter snow in Whistler, in the middle of the ocean diving with great white sharks, and in some of the most adventurous places on the planet.

The biggest lesson I have learned is simple.

A great retreat is not about luxury or checking a box. It is about intention. It is about curating moments that make people feel seen, included, and connected.

My biggest recommendation is to customize your retreat. Do not simply book a resort package and hope for the best. When we hosted a retreat in Arizona, I rented an entire racetrack and had brand-new Corvettes delivered to the house. I ordered personalized gear for everyone, flew in live crawfish for a seafood boil, and built small surprises into the schedule.

Those small touches matter.

A retreat becomes unforgettable when it feels crafted rather than purchased.

Another key element is how people stay together. When a team shares one large house instead of scattering into separate hotel rooms, something changes. Conversations last longer. People open up more easily. The experience feels shared rather than scheduled.

Below are several destinations that naturally lend themselves to retreats, places where a little creativity and thoughtful planning can turn a simple trip into something your team will remember for years.

PARK CITY, UTAH — SUMMER

Park City is built for retreats. Rent a large mountain home where the entire team can stay together. Days can include visits to the Olympic Training Center, via ferrata climbing routes, horseback riding, alpine slides, scenic hikes, and chef-prepared dinners that bring the group together naturally. Park City has a calming energy that encourages meaningful conversations and leadership moments.

BIG SKY, MONTANA — SUMMER

Big Sky is pure Montana magic. Massive homes, wide open views, and a sense of quiet that immediately pulls groups together. Activities include fly fishing, river floating, clay shooting, paddle boarding, golfing, and short trips to Yellowstone National Park. Sharing these experiences as a team transforms the retreat into something people will talk about for years.

STUART, FLORIDA — WINTER

Warm weather, ocean breezes, and large beach houses directly on the sand make Stuart one of the easiest winter retreats to organize. Add jet skiing, boating, paddle boarding, wake surfing, and long sunset dinners by the ocean and you have a retreat that blends productivity with comfort and fun.

PHOENIX & SEDONA, ARIZONA — WINTER

This combination gives you the best of both worlds. Phoenix offers warm weather, great restaurants, and world-class golf. Sedona adds dramatic red rock landscapes that feel both inspiring and grounding. You can kayak the Salt River, rent performance cars, fly into Sedona, or explore the desert by Jeep before returning for group sessions and dinners.

PIGEON FORGE, TENNESSEE — YEAR ROUND

If you want a retreat that feels like a grown-up summer camp, Pigeon Forge delivers. Large lodge-style homes feature game rooms, theaters, big decks, and communal spaces that encourage everyone to spend time together. Nearby adventures include ziplining, rafting, indoor skydiving, mountain coasters, and scenic hikes.

JOHNSON VALLEY, CALIFORNIA — SPRING

For teams that want pure adventure, Johnson Valley delivers something special. At Lazy G Ranch, groups can explore rugged desert terrain through off-road trails, dunes, and open landscapes. There is something powerful about conquering difficult terrain together. Shared challenge builds trust, chemistry, and confidence within a team in ways traditional retreats rarely achieve.

FINAL THOUGHT

The best corporate retreats are not the most luxurious or the most expensive.

They are the ones where people connect, challenge themselves, and create meaningful moments together.

With the right destination and a little creativity, a retreat becomes more than a trip.

It becomes an experience your team carries with them long after the journey ends.
