Country number twelve on our 52 countries in 52 weeks adventure brought us to the Netherlands. This stop was a little different for us, as I had to zip back to Los Angeles for work while Juliana and the kids explored Amsterdam on their own.
Amsterdam Adventures
They stayed in the most authentic little townhouse just outside the city, complete with a bustling market right outside their front door. True to Amsterdam, bikes were everywhere, adding to the charm of the neighborhood. The kids explored the town, soaked up the atmosphere, and enjoyed incredible food at every turn.
A City Made for Wandering
Of all the European cities, Amsterdam is the one I’ve visited most often, so missing a few days wasn’t too hard, though I have to admit, I was a little jealous. Amsterdam is one of those cities where you can simply wander, explore, and inevitably fall in love with its canals, culture, and vibrant street life.
Reflections on the Netherlands
While I was stuck working, the family was making memories in one of the world’s most charming cities. Luckily, I soon caught a flight to reunite with them, and together we headed off to country number thirteen: Switzerland
