robynduncan782

If you want to do something really special in Paris, I would suggest the unforgettable experience of learning how to make real French croissants with LeFoodist. Hands-on, immersive, and full of a certain kind of culinary magic, it is - let's face it - one of the best things to do in the world!

A Foodie Adventure with LeFoodist

We got to take a class on how to make a croissant with LeFoodist, a popular cooking school that provides truly authentic, hands-on French culinary experiences. LeFoodist is set in a professional kitchen and offers a truly unique way to connect with the vibrant food culture of Paris.

Our teacher, Fanny, was no ordinary instructor - she's a professional pastry chef with years of expertise. In a very friendly and approachable manner, she made the croissant-making art both accessible and fun. From the very beginning, Fanny guided us through every step, shared professional secrets, tips, and techniques that only a top-notch chef could provide.

The Process of Making Croissants: Step by Step

The creation of croissants is an art, and Fanny always made sure that we understood what we were doing. We began by mixing the dough with the precise combination of flour, yeast, butter, and water. It really amazed me how an exact balance of ingredients could get transformed into such delicious pastry.

The next important step was lamination where we folded layers of butter into the dough, which created that signature flakiness! Fanny showed us how to roll the dough out to the right thickness, so the layers of butter were evenly distributed. She spoke about timing and temperature - too warm and the butter melts; too cold and it doesn't form those delicate layers that make croissants so special.

Once we had our dough perfectly rolled out and folded, the real fun began: shaping the croissants. We learned the precise method of cutting the dough into triangles, carefully rolling each one, and tucking the ends to form that iconic crescent shape. It was a hands-on process, and as a family, we enjoyed the challenge of working together to create the perfect batch of croissants.

Of course, once we had the dough perfectly rolled and folded, the real fun began which was shaping the croissants. We learned this really precise method of cutting the dough into triangles, delicately rolling each one, and tucking the ends in to form that signature crescent shape. It was, quite literally, a hands-on process! While it was quite a challenge, we really enjoyed working as a family to create the perfect batch of croissants.

The Magic Moment: Fresh Croissants Right out of the Oven

The best moment of the process was taking our croissants out of the oven: golden in color, well-puffed, and warm - but not too hot - just enough to make our mouths water in anticipation. The moment one breaks into such a freshly baked croissant is magical! Light and airy, the layers were perfectly set, with just enough richness from butter. The crunch on the outside contrasted the soft and buttery interior. It was a culinary experience unlike anything I had ever experienced.

It’s hard to put into words just how satisfying it was to not only witness the transformation of simple ingredients into a finished product but to actually enjoy the fruits of our labor. There’s something immensely rewarding about creating your own croissants in Paris, and the joy of sharing them with loved ones makes the experience even sweeter.
